Start Salary £21,640 p.a.

Applications are invited for this research position in the aspect-oriented
software engineering special interest group in the Computing Department at
Lancaster University. The position is to be funded through the European
Commission Framework 6 Network of Excellence on Aspect-Oriented Software
Development being coordinated by Lancaster University.

The focus of the post is on integrating research activities on applications
of aspect-oriented techniques with a specific emphasis on persistence and
distributed systems. The other main responsibility of the post is to develop
a restructuring framework to reorganise the activities of the network
members into a coherent virtual research unit. The research associate will
also be involved in development of any relevant tool support and
contribution to development of relevant curricula and training materials.

The successful candidate must have a PhD or be about to complete a PhD in
Computer Science with focus on Aspect-Oriented Software Development. S/he
must also have a suitable publication record on the topic. Knowledge or
familiarity with aspect-oriented databases, aspect reuse/variability and
distributed systems is also desirable. Above all, s/he will possess
initiative, motivation and an ability to produce deliverables in a timely
fashion as well as work as part of a team. The successful candidate will
join an ambitious research group with a strong track record in
aspect-oriented software engineering.

The post is initially for 18 months with a possibility of extension to 36
months subject to satisfactory performance of the person as well as
successful continuation of the project.
