3rd European Workshop on Aspects in Software (EWAS'06)
August 31 - September 1, 2006
University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The third edition of EWAS carries on the tradition of providing AOSD
researchers and practitioners with an interactive forum for fostering
novel ideas and turning submitted material into conference-ready papers.
We employ the typical instruments for generating and discussing novel
ideas and research results, more specifically demo-, and
poster-sessions. Improving submitted workshop papers will be fostered by
giving authors feedback in two different forms: by detailed and
constructive reviews from international experts on AOSD and by
discussions during highly interactive "writer's workshop" sessions. In
the latter, authors receive direct feedback from peers regarding their
paper's content and presentation. Armed with both forms of feedback,
authors will have ample time to improve their paper after EWAS for one
of the major conferences that welcome AOSD-related work or for the
journal special issue that is planned by the EWAS organizers. (Last
year, after EWAS, discussed papers were revised and submitted as an
AOSD'06 technical paper, of which two were accepted for the main
conference, which we believe is an indication of the usefulness of the
EWAS format.)
[ Topics of Interests ]

development, including (but not limited to) the following:

[ Format and Submissions ]
This two-day workshop combines formats aimed at generating and
discussing novel ideas, as well as discussing and improving research
results:
- Writer's workshop sessions bring about interactive and profound
discussions on the content and presentation of submitted papers.
- Poster and demo sessions provide room for presenting (intermediate)
results of current research and development and allow for one-on-one
discussions. Demos can be presented on laptops with an additional screen
for small group discussions.
Submissions can be made in three categories:
- Prospective participants wishing to present a poster or demo at the
workshop must submit an extended abstract of their work. Posters and
demos should be the basis for focused, technical discussions in small
groups. The extended abstracts must be formatted in the ACM Proceedings
style, and not exceed 1 page.
- Prospective participants wishing to have their paper discussed at the
writer's workshop and receive feedback on it from international experts
should submit a paper containing original work. Papers should be
formatted in the ACM Proceedings style. Authors must submit their work
in the following forms:
(a) Full papers must not exceed 12 pages in length.
(b) Short papers must not exceed 6 pages in length.
Papers, posters and demos presented at the workshop will be included in
a proceedings published in the technical report series of the University
of Bonn, ISSN 0944-8535. Authors retain their full copyrights and can
publish their work at other venues.
In addition, it is planned to invite participants to submit extended
version of their papers to a journal special issue. The submission
deadline for the special issue will be at least three months after EWAS
in order to give authors sufficient time to improve their papers.
Submissions should be sent as a PDF file by email to "ewas [AT]
