[aosd-discuss] crosscutting interfaces

Dear All,

I am a PhD student interested in AOP. Could some body please let me know 

1. What exactly are crosscutting interfaces?
2. In what way are they useful to AOP?
3. What type is research is going on in this issue?

I have read two papers "Taming Heterogeneous Aspects using XIs" and " Modular Software Design with XIs" but didnt get any clear idea about it.
