CALL FOR PAPERS

Sixth AOSD Workshop on Aspects, Components, and Patterns
for Infrastructure Software (ACP4IS)

March 12, 2007
Vancouver, Canada

http://www.aosd.net/workshops/acp4is/2007/

A one-day workshop to be held in conjunction with the
Sixth International Conference on
Aspect-Oriented Software Development (AOSD 2007),
March 12-16, 2007, Vancouver, Canada

Description

ACP4IS provides a highly interactive forum for researchers and developers to discuss the application of and relationships between aspects, components, and patterns within modern "systems infrastructure" software: e.g., application servers, middleware, virtual machines, compilers, operating systems, and other software that provides general services for higher-level applications.

Topics of interest include:

  • Approaches that combine or relate component-, pattern-, and aspect-based techniques
  • Aspect languages for infrastructure software
  • Container-, ORB-, and system-based separation of concerns
  • Architectural techniques for particular system concerns, e.g., security, static and dynamic optimization
  • Aspect mining within infrastructure software
  • Application- or domain-specific optimization of systems
  • Reasoning and optimization across architecture layers
  • Resource consumption of AOP approaches
  • Timing behavior of AO-code
  • Dimensions of infrastructure software quality including comprehensibility, configurability, reliability, evolvability, scalability
  • Quantitative and qualitative evaluations

This year's edition will feature a special (non-excluding) focus on aspects for real-time and embedded systems. Contributions that are related to the topics of interest and the special focus are highly appreciated.

Agenda

The workshop will be structured to encourage fruitful discussions and build connections between workshop participants. To this end, approximately half of the workshop time will be devoted to short presentations of accepted papers, with the remaining half devoted to semi-structured discussion groups. Participants will be expected to have read the accepted papers prior to the workshop, to help ensure focused discussions. Participants will work with the workshop organizers prior to the workshop to establish topics for discussion groups.

Publication in the ACM Digital Library

The workshop papers will be published in the ACM digital library, which will increase the visibility of the work presented in the workshop. Inclusion of a workshop paper in the ACM digital library, which is subjected to the authors' approval, requires a standard copyright transfer for that paper to ACM.

Submission Guidelines

Invitation to the workshop will be based on accepted position and technical papers, 3-6 pages in length. Papers should be electronically submitted in PDF, Postscript, or MS Word format through the ACP4IS 2007 online submission system. Paper submissions will be reviewed by the workshop program committee and designated reviewers. Papers will be evaluated based on technical quality, originality, relevance, and presentation.

Electronic Submission

Technical papers should be electronically submitted through the ACP4IS 2007 online submission system.
