ASAT Workshop March 12, 2007

Assessment is a key issue to enable the effective transfer of Aspect-Oriented (AO) technologies to the mainstream of software development. In fact, assessment of AO techniques and respective artefacts has been a major concern since the arising of the first AO programming languages in the past decade. However, there is no standard AO-specific approach or even any 'rules of thumb' for assessing AO technologies. This means that evaluation of a technique is relatively arbitrarily chosen and made in an idiosyncratic manner.

The ASAT workshop is the first initiative to put together researchers and practitioners with different backgrounds in order to discuss the multi-faceted issues that emerge in the assessment of AO approaches. ASAT is intended to cover a wide range of topics on AOSD assessment, from theoretical foundations to assessment frameworks and empirical studies. The workshop will strongly be focused on discussions, and it will combine short presentations and focused discussion groups.
